Birmingham's five-year BDS is one of the UK's largest and most established dental degrees. It sets a high UCAT bar after an academic screen, and — distinctively — once you reach interview, the offer is decided on interview performance alone.
Birmingham screens applicants academically, then uses the UCAT total to decide who's shortlisted for interview — and it tends to sit among the higher UCAT bars in dentistry. The SJT isn't currently used at any stage (though Birmingham notes that could change). Distinctively, once you reach interview, offers are made purely on interview ranking: your UCAT and academic achievement aren't carried into that final decision, so the interview is everything at the last step.
